     My name is Retha Barnes. I was born and grew up in Webb, Alabama. I attended Webb Jr. High School from grades 1 through 8. I am a graduate of Houston County High School, class of 1987. Immediately following high school I enrolled in Wallace Community College and received an Associates in Arts Degree, and a Bachelor's of Arts and Science degree in Elementary Education at Troy State University. I am currently enrolled at Troy University, pursuing a Master's Degree in Elementary Education.  In my family, I have a  mother and father that live in Webb, AL, one sister who lives in Webb and teaches in the Dothan City School System, three brothers, one in Texas, and two that live in Virginia. I began my teaching career in the Geneva County School System. I later transferred to the Houston County School System where I currently teach fourth grade at Webb Elementary School. I have been a teacher for 16 years. I am an active member of the Alabama Education Association and serve as treasurer of Uniserv District 26.
