Home Education

Home education is defined by Florida Statute as “sequentially progressive instruction of a student directed by his or her parent in order to satisfy the attendance requirements of SS. 1002.41, 1003. 01 (4), and 1003.21 (1).”

To establish a Home Education program, you must notify the Superintendent of Schools in writing of your intent to initiate a Home Education program.

If you are withdrawing from a Hernando County School please contact your school to continue.

Please follow the instructions below to get started.

• Step 1: Home Education Information Packet Please review.
• Step 2: Notice of Intent To be signed and sent to the address at the top of the form.
• Step 3: K-12 Withdrawal to Home Education Checklist To be signed and sent in along with your Notice of Intent.

To terminate your Home Education program, you must submit an Evaluation and Letter of Termination. A link to the 'Notice to Terminate' form is below.
