Junior Leadership is a youth leadership program sponsored by the Harrison County School District that was established in 2001. Since then, we have had over 900 students graduate from this program with a better understanding of being leaders in their schools and communities. The goals of Junior Leadership include:
- Gaining the skills needed to become a leader
- Integrating community service projects with classroom curriculum
- Achieving skills to solve real-life problems
- Developing confidence and self-esteem
- Promoting civic responsibility while meeting community needs
- Developing and recognizing the importance of diversity at school and in the community
- Participating in community service through volunteerism
- Developing awareness of local government, economy, and business etiquette
- Promoting an interest in higher education
- Creating long-lasting friendships
