Superintendent’s Message

On behalf of our inspiring teachers and hardworking staff members, I am so excited to welcome all our new and returning students for the 2022-23 School Year. Our first week back on campus marked a successful return to the 2 Positive Place campus for MIT High School, newly painted buildings and turf at the Corcoran campus, and a newly asphalted courtyard at the Hobbs campus for Griffin Academy Middle and High School.

This year, GTA is committed to providing our students with better fields, courts, and playing spaces for physical education (PE) and after-school team sports.

For the Griffin Academies at 233 Hobbs, we will be improving the grass field by installing artificial turf. Once our fields are completed, PE classes and after-school sports will add a new dimension for our students to enjoy a wider variety of athletic options. On that topic,  GTA’s Athletic Director Chris Owens is hard at work developing athletic programs including Volleyball, Basketball, Soccer, Cross Country, Disc Golf, and Ultimate Frisbee as sports to offer you this fall and winter.

Two of the other traditions at GTA that often gets students off campus are student volunteering and participation in work-based learning opportunities. I am excited to announce our new Work Based Learning and Student Coordinator Mr. Yoody Aguilar Lepe. Mr. Aguilar Lepe moved into his new position this year, and has big plans to share with students and their families.

Great things are happening at GTA and our schools! We want this to be a rewarding year at GTA for all our students, families, and staff, and your involvement and input are important. Please do not hesitate to reach out.

In service,

Nick Driver
Superintendent, Griffin Technology Academies
