Vallejo, CA – Griffin Technology Academies’ (GTA) Board of Directors announced its new Superintendent last night at its’ June Board meeting with a unanimous ratification of a two-year contract. Dr. Rob Martinez will assume his new position on July 1, 2021.

Dr. Martinez joins GTA after having served the broader educational community for 35 years, 32 of those in Solano County. He has continually focused on improving and expanding educational opportunities and access for students by striving to provide engaging, innovative educational environments based on well-honed curriculum, exceptional instruction, and positive learning environments that are targeted on meeting the needs of students. He strives to advance the collective understanding of resiliency research for all this employees, students, and their families, and believes that everyone within our educational community can be the difference maker for our  students.

Upon his appointment to the Superintendent position for Griffin Technology Academies, Dr. Martinez stated, “I am thrilled with being provided this opportunity to serve the students of Griffin Technology Academies. Each of our students deserves the best that we can provide, exceptional instruction, provided in a safe, responsive and emotionally supportive environment. Every opportunity and access to exceptional teaching and guidance that we can provide will excel each of their success towards attainment of their personal goals.”

He also stated, “I look forward with working with our employees, Board of Directors, families, students and all our stakeholders to ensure that our focus on meeting our students’ needs and providing an outstanding
level of education for all of our enrolled students in our campuses in Vallejo, is our primary initiative. Each of our students, our future leaders, deserve the best we can provide.” GTA’s Board of Directors employed the services of Solano County based CharterSearch, led by Bob Hampton, to lead the executive search efforts. “I look forward to having Dr. Martinez join the GTA family. I believe his leadership skills and experience in education will prove to be extremely beneficial for our organization” said Board Chair Debbie Lamb.

Dr. Martinez holds a B.A. in Psychology and an M.A. in Education, both from the University of California, Davis, and an Ed.D. in Educational Leadership and Management with a concentration in Human Resources, from  Drexel University. He believes in supporting resilience development in each person, and in building equitable safe places where children can grow in peace. He often says, “Let the lives we help others live, be the measure of our success.”

Dr. Martinez resides in Benicia, Ca. with his wife Nancy of 33 years, where they raised their four successful sons.
