Ron Mack is a custodian at Goshen Intermediate Sch Ron Mack is a custodian at Goshen Intermediate School (GIS) whose responsibilities include the cafeteria. He takes the trash out after every lunch and helps to clean up before, during and after the lunch periods. However, he does more than custodial work. He spends time interacting with students. He moves around the cafeteria, talking with students, telling them jokes, or asking them riddles. If they manage to answer a riddle correctly, or do the right thing, he gives them a little plastic duck. The kids are always asking for "Mr. Ron" to come to their tables. They want to hear what he has to say, and try and earn a duck.

One Friday, he was setting up a small display in the display case near the cafeteria. When asked what he was doing, he said, "Just putting it up for students to look at. I hope they enjoy it." Mr. Ron is retired from the United States Postal Service, and he works at GIS because he enjoys being at the school. He likes seeing the kids and their happy smiles.

Thanks, Mr. Ron, for choosing to work at GIS, taking the time to get to know students, and making them smile. You are appreciated!
This morning, the National Junior Honor Society se This morning, the National Junior Honor Society served breakfast to the GJH staff before school. Students greeted staff at the media center, served them, sat with staff to chat, cleared tables to make room, called out teachers and staff members' names when they entered, and even delivered donuts to cafeteria staff who could not make it to the media center.
This is what the students chose to do. They suggested the idea to NJHS sponsor Joe Vance on Monday, organized it, and pulled it off by this morning. Great job, students!
