Glendale Unified Board of Education Adopts Resolution Standing in Solidarity with People of Artsakh and Condemning Azerbaijan’s Genocidal Campaign
On September 19, Azerbaijan launched an unprovoked, large-scale, and genocidal military attack on the people of Artsakh following a months-long blockade. Reports indicate that Azerbaijan used deadly force, including heavy shelling of residential areas, which has resulted in significant destruction and the deaths of hundreds of innocent civilians, including children.

Horace Mann Elementary Named 2023 National Blue Ribbon School
The 2023 National Blue Ribbon Schools Program recognized 353 schools, including 28 schools in California. Mann Elementary has been recognized in the “Exemplary High Performing Schools” category. This is the first time the school has received this honor. Ten Glendale Unified Schools have earned the National Blue Ribbon distinction since the program began in 1982.

Glendale Unified High Schools Rank Among Nation’s Best by U.S. News & World Report
According to U.S. News & World Report rankings methodology, the highest ranked schools, “are those whose students demonstrated outstanding outcomes above expectations in math and reading state assessments, earned qualifying scores in an array of college-level exams, and graduated in high proportions.”

Jennifer Freemon Assumes Role as Glendale Unified Board of Education President
On July 11, the Glendale Unified Board of Education completed its annual rotation of officers, and Jennifer Freemon assumed her new role as Board President for 2023-24. Mrs. Freemon takes over the position from outgoing Board President Nayiri Nahabedian.
