Germantown CSD is proud to announce its Valedictorian and Salutatorian for the Class of 2024 as Shea Mudge and Anna Kukon, respectively.
Congratulations to Shea Mudge and Anna Kukon! They both put great effort into their education and received high grade point averages, with Shea earning a 97 and Anna earning a 94.
When asked how it felt to be Valedictorian and Salutatorian, both students gave humble responses on their achievements. However, they both are delighted to see their hard work being recognized.
Both students had a determined approach to setting and achieving goals. They offered some advice for their peers.
“I set my mind to it… it takes grit and tenacity to get those things (goals) and to keep at what you’re doing,” Shea said.
“I set all these goals for myself and I’m too stubborn to let them go,” Anna added.
They both agreed that asking for help from teachers, peers, and parents will help you succeed. Shea added how smaller class sizes make it easier to receive a more personalized education.
Shea is the president of the senior class and president of the National Honor Society. She also participates in various extracurricular roles, including: serving as the president of the drama club, a member of the acapella group, co-captain of the varsity volleyball team, a member of the varsity softball team, a singer at the NYSSMA, All-County Choir, and Area All-State Treble Choir, and a volunteer at her Sunday school’s fundraisers.
Shea is interested in the medical field, and she hopes to eventually earn a doctorate and open her own business.
Anna is the National Honor Society’s secretary, vice president of the art club, and plays the organ at her local church. She also played modified basketball and softball, competed in a season of varsity softball, and is a member of the archery club. After school, Anna cares for elementary students through Germantown CSD’s CAP program.
As for the future, Anna is planning on attending Siena College in Loudonville, NY, where she will study adolescent education. “I always knew I wanted to work in education,” she said.
