The boys varsity soccer team defeated Spa Catholic in the first round of the Section 2, Class D tournament.

Germantown struck first when Jonathan Mollo scored from the top of the box early in the first half. Germantown’s next goal was scored off of a corner kick by Mason Ferrer. Germantown was up 2-0 at the half.

Saratoga Catholic came out aggressively in the second half and scored a quick goal to make it 2-1. After that Germantown played strong defense led by sweeper Nate McCarthy. Lucas Hoffman and Mike Stagno also contributed to the Clippers strong defensive play in the second half.

In the middle of the second half Germantown’s third goal was poked in on a hustle play by Jonathan Mollo. The Clippers fourth and final goal was scored off of shot by Owen Watson that deflected off Mason Ferrer. Kaelin Platt had a great game in the midfield and controlled the Clippers attack. Keeper Riley Jennings had six saves.
