Dear Germantown CSD Community:
Today, we were informed that one Germantown Elementary School student has tested positive for the COVID-19 virus. The student’s last day on the school campus was Tuesday, November 16. We also had a staff member test positive with COVID-19 today with our Point of Care testing machine. Our District is currently assisting the Columbia County Department of Public Health in conducting contact tracing. If you are not directly contacted by a school representative or the CCDOH, you do not need to take any action. If you are contacted by the CCDOH, please give them your complete cooperation.
While I understand that you may want additional details, privacy laws prevent us from personally identifying individuals who have tested positive for COVID-19.
Any student or employee directed to quarantine due to a positive COVID-19 test or by being identified as a close contact to a positive case must be cleared by the department of health before they can leave quarantine.
It is important that you continue to communicate with us regarding any quarantines and / or positive COVID-19 cases that may occur in your household. You can convey this information to your child’s principal or school nurse. Please also continue to follow CDC protocols such as mask wearing, social distancing and hand sanitizing. We continue to encourage staff and students to stay home if they are feeling ill and / or have COVID-19 related symptoms.
Columbia County is seeing a current spike in COVID-19 cases, please stay safe.
