Veneta Elementary School

The Tooth Taxi program is returning to Veneta Elementary School November  7th through November 10th.  The Tooth Taxi is a mobile dental office that provides full dental services to children at no cost to their family. There are no income restrictions and you do not need to have insurance. Participating children will be screened on November 7th and then scheduled for an appointment with the Tooth Taxi if they need services. The Tooth Taxi can do a the full gambit of services including filling cavities, removing teeth, applying sealants, etc. The Tooth Taxi is staffed by a licensed dentist and dental assistant. The Tooth Taxi is made possible by the Dental Foundation of Oregon.

The Tooth Taxi is a great opportunity for children to be seen by a dentist and even treated free. During past visits, they have provided over $40,000 of services to our children at no cost.

Interest forms for the Tooth Taxi will go home on Monday, October 3rd. If you are interested, return the interest form and a completed Tooth Taxi packet will be sent home with your child. Completed packets need to be returned by October 28th. You can also pick up a packet at the school office or call and we will send one home with your child.

Veneta Elementary School will open their doors for community members who would like to see what the inside of our remodeled school looks like. We want to give those who supported the bond, but may not have children in our school, the chance to come and see how their support has transformed our school.

VES will have our community visit on Wednesday, September 28th from 6 PM to 7 PM.  This is not to be confused with our Open  House which will be Thursday, September 29th. No teachers will be here and classrooms will not be open for visitors. However community members can see the new cafeteria, the new offices, the remodeled library, and the new classroom wing.

So if you don’t have students at VES but have seen the changes on the outside and wondered about changes on the inside, stop by Wednesday, September 28th from 6 PM to 7 PM and take a look.

Veneta Elementary invites all families and friends to our annual Open House on Thursday, September 29th.  The school will be open from 6:30 to 7:30 for families to visit classrooms and meet teachers. Our wonderful PALS group will be selling t-shirts, sweatshirts, Smencils, etc. PALS is also providing free popsicles and ice cream treats to our families.

Please plan on joining us for this annual tradition.

Ways To Communicate With VES

Veneta Elementary is currently seeking applications from parents who are interested in serving as the parent representative for our Site Council. Site Council is a group that meets at least three times during the school year to review school policies/procedures and provide feedback/guidance for the principal. Site Council meeting times occur either at 7:00 AM before school or after school from 2:30 to 3:30. Parents who are interested should fill out the form below and bring it to the school office by September 22nd. If there is more than one parent interested, we will have parents vote during Open House.

We are off to a great start of what promises to be a great school year. It’s been exciting to see all of your children again and see how much they have grown up over the summer. Thank you to all of our students, families, and just some quick updates

We received a lot of positive feedback from parents who appreciated the separate lane and being able to drop students off right at the curb. It’s here! The bus loop that we have all looked forward to for the last year is being finished as I type this. That means some major changes to our parking lot will take place. With the buses out of the way, we will be designating a drop off lane where parents can drop off their students right at the school sidewalk. No more having students cross the parking lot to get to the school. The drop off lane will come in from Territorial to the front of the school where there will be a drop off point. We ask that parents pull forward and drop off at the drop off point which will be designated with a sign. Please make sure students exit cars on the curbside. Continue reading →

Returning Veneta students who did not update their registration information in June, will need to come to Returning Student Registration August 23rd, 24th, and 25th. Registration will be 7 AM to 7 PM on August 23rd, 8 AM to 3 PM on August 24th, and 8 AM to Noon on August 25th. If you are not sure if you completed the process in June, please contact the office and we will check for you.

All students, including returning students, must complete the registration process by Wednesday, August 31st in order to start school on the first day of school, Tuesday September 6th.
