Special Ed. Counselors

  • SPECIAL CLASS COUNSELORS MISSION:
    The mission of the Special Education Counselors of the Fulton City School District is to support students with significant special education needs within the special class programs to enhance their affective functioning and support academic progress.

    SPECIAL CLASS COUNSELOR PURPOSE:
    The purpose of the special class counselor in the Fulton City School District is to provide counseling services for specific Special Class Programs with in the public school setting by working on social and emotional needs. This may include individual, group and/or crisis counseling, classroom-based instruction, consultation with faculty and staff, referrals for mental health counselor, recommendations for other community-based supports and collaboration with home-based services.

School Psychologists

  • According to the National Association of School Psychologists, "School psychologists are uniquely qualified members of school teams that support students' ability to learn and teachers' ability to teach. They apply expertise in mental health, learning, and behavior, to help children and youth succeed academically, socially, behaviorally, and emotionally. School psychologists partner with families, teachers, school administrators, and other professionals to create safe, healthy, and supportive learning environments that strengthen connections between home, school, and the community."
