Jeff Christ

Hello, my name is Jeff Christ and I am the principal at Walker Butte K-8. This is my first year as the principal here, though some may know me from when I was here a few years ago as the dean of students and athletic director. This is my 12th year in the district overall. I taught 7th/8th grade math at Circle Cross Ranch for six years, before moving to Walker Butte as the dean of students. I went back to Circle Cross after two years to become the assistant principal. After three years there, I was very excited to be named the principal here at Walker Butte as it was somewhat of a homecoming for me. I believe in pushing kids to reach their highest potential.

Outside of school, I love to spend time with my wife, our two kids, and our two dogs.

Kelly Fant

Greetings Walker Butte families! I have been an educator for 23 years, serving in a variety of capacities. After graduating from Globe High School in 1992, I received a Bachelor of Arts in Education from Arizona State University in 1996. I received a Master’s Degree in Reading Curriculum and Instruction from Grand Canyon University in 2007 while teaching in my hometown. We moved to the San Tan Valley/Florence Area for more opportunities. I worked at Copper Basin for 10 years while earning another Master’s Degree, this time in Educational Administration.

I started my teaching career at Thomas J. Pappas Elementary in downtown Phoenix, working with homeless students.  I taught 2nd-4th grades at Williams Community School when the ASU East Campus was just opening.  From there, I worked at Durango Detention Center.  After having both of my children, I moved back to Globe to be closer to family and taught at Copper Rim, where I attended school myself from 2nd-4th grades.  I then joined the Florence Unified School District and worked at Copper Basin for 10 years in 3rd and 4th grades, 7th grade math, and as the Instructional Coach.  I joined the Walker Butte family six years ago as a 6th grade math teacher before becoming the Dean of Students.

In what little spare time I have, I enjoy genealogy and scrapbooking and spending time with my family. I've been happily married for 26 years and have two boys. My oldest son is serving in the Air Force and is currently stationed in South Korea but will be moving to Italy soon. My youngest son is still trying to figure out what he would like to pursue. I look forward to a year full of learning and building relationships. Go Coyotes!

Rhonda Story

Hi, my name is Rhonda Story. This is my first year as an instructional coach, but my 27th year of teaching. This is my 5th year at Walker Butte!! I have taught 12 years as a General Education Teacher in grades: 1st, 3rd, 5th, 6th and 7th/8th grade ELA and 14 years as a Special Education Teacher. As a special education teacher, I have taught  in cross cat classes, elementary resource classrooms, and in junior high inclusion and resource classrooms. I have been a mentor teacher, worked with PTOs, and sponsored the Student Council as well. In all these years, I have gained so much knowledge of the curriculum and working with children. That is why I’m excited to now be in a position where I can share my knowledge and collaborate with the teachers at Walker Butte and across the district.

When I’m not at Walker Butte, I enjoy spending time with my family. We like to go camping, visit the beach, go hiking, and go to the movies. We also love spending time working on our flower gardens in our yard.
