Mt. Stuart Robotics Club
The Mt. Stuart Robotics Club is about to complete their seventh season. This year we had 18 students on six teams between 3rd and 5th grade. The students vastly improved in their communication skills, building skills, problem solving skills, programming skills and driver skills.
This season our teams won 13 awards in six tournaments. On December 3rd, 2022 Team 53065A The Wolf Pack won the Excellence Award at the Foothills Middle School Invite Tournament in Wenatchee. At the December 10th, 2022 Mt. Stuart Invite Tournament, Team 53065B The Muddy Ducks won the Excellence Award while the Wolf Pack won the Design Award. Both teams won the same award about a month later at the January 7th, 2023 Wahluke Tournament. Those two teams would win the same awards again at the January 28th, 2023, "6th Annual Mt. Stuart Eagle Robot Tournament". The Muddy Ducks also won the Robot Skills Champion Award at this tournament marking the first time a Mt. Stuart team has won the Robot Skills Award. The Wolf Pack would then go on to win the Excellence Award at the February 11th, 2023 Reecer Creek Robotics Tournament and the February 18th, 2023 Ellensburg Robotics Club Tournament.
All six club teams qualified for the Elementary State Championship. There were 99 elementary teams in the state and only the top 32 qualified. This is only the second time in club history that all teams have qualified for Elementary State. At the Elementary State Championship, hosted at Mt. Stuart Elementary, Team 53065E The 'Gers won the Sportsmanship Award while the Wolf Pack became State Champions winning the Innovate Award. The Muddy Ducks would become State Champions winning the Design Award. This is the second year in a row that Mt. Stuart Robotics has won the Design Award at State.
Both the Wolf Pack and Muddy Ducks earned invitations to the World Championship tournament in Dallas, Texas May 2-4, 2023. Of the over 6,000+ elementary teams in the world, only the top 800 qualify for Worlds. This marks the seventh year in a row Mt. Stuart Elementary has sent at least one team to the World Championship and only the fifth time that multiple teams have qualified. Mt. Stuart Robotics has sent 14 teams to Worlds the past seven years. The Wolf Pack make history as the second team in club history to win back to back State Championships and qualify for Worlds. The Innovate and Design Award gives the Mt. Stuart Robotics Club its 8th State Championship in the past 7 years.
