Elementary Basketball FAQ
The Collierville Schools Elementary Basketball League (CSEBL) is a new league dedicated to delivering a competitive experience to our elementary schools.
Who is able to participate in the CSEBL?
The league is intended for fifth grade participation in preparation for middle school basketball. However, each school has the option to extend the invitation to participate to fourth graders on a space available basis.
What is required prior to tryouts?
All participants must complete FinalForms, the district's sports medicine compliance platform.
What is the required fee for participation?
Those selected will be required to pay $100 that will cover the cost of equipment and other charges.
When is the season?
Schools may hold tryouts prior to December 13th, 2023 with the first contest scheduled for Wednesday, January 17, 2024. Games will be played on Wednesdays through the months of January and February. No contest will be held on February 14, 2024. Regular season games will be held at the individual elementary schools.
Girls games will tip off at 4:45 p.m. with the boys to follow at approximately 5:45 p.m.
An end of season CSEBL Tournament will take place in March at the My Town Movers Fieldhouse at Collierville High School. The quarterfinals will take place March 6, 2024 and the Final Four is set for March 13, 2024. All games will be completed prior to Spring Break.
How many schools are in the CSEBL?
All six of Collierville's elementary schools will have a girls and boys team.
Who are the coaches in the CSEBL?
Job postings are placed on the district's website. School principals will make the recommendation for hire on a year-by-year basis.
How much practice time will be required of my student-athlete?
The recommendation is for each team to practice twice a week, but it is at the discretion of each individual school and coach to determine the amount of practice time needed.
Can my student-athlete play in the CSEBL and the Town of Collierville's recreation league?
Yes. Collierville Schools and the Town of Collierville are working together to ensure that there are no competition conflicts between the two leagues.
Student-athletes will not be denied playing in the Town of Collierville recreation league if they tryout and make their respective CSEBL team.
What are the rules and regulations?
The CSEBL will follow the rules and regulations set forth by the TMSAA. Each contest will have four, six minute quarters with a two minute halftime. Teams will be granted one timeout per half.
Regular size TMSAA basketballs will be used.
Girls: Size 6
Boys: Size 7
Who are the officials?
The officials will be assigned by the local TSSAA assigner. All officials are credentialed.
Will transportation be provided?
No. It is the responsibility of the parent/guardian to arrange drop-off and pick-up for practices and games with times to be determined by the head coach.
