Night Program

Home  \  Education  \  Night Program

Evening Activities are either 45 minutes or 1 hour long. There are two activities per evening.

SPACE

Songs and Skits

Our staff will lead your group in silly songs and skits (in front of a campfire, depending on the weather and season). You will sing, act, laugh, learn, and create memories at the oldest and most cherished outdoor school tradition.

Starwatch

Take advantage of being in the mountains at 4,100 feet far from the light pollution of big cities! Our staff will take your students up to the ballfield where they are greeted by a blanket of stars (and sometimes planets and views of the Milky Way Galaxy). Students will get a chance to hear constellation stories, look through a telescope, and learn some basic astronomy. Note: only available September-April, weather permitting.

Night Hike

With an emphasis on safety, our staff will lead your students on a hike through the forest at night without depending on flashlights so they can explore the world of nocturnal animals and their amazing adaptations.

Egg Drop

Your students will work in teams to engineer a contraption that will protect a raw egg that our staff will drop off a ladder in increasing height increments. They will cheer with their peers as each group strives to be the "eggsperts," and eventually find out which team's egg will be the last to get "scrambled!"

Who Goes There?

For a lab fee of $1 each, students will use a hands-on approach to learn about owls and their amazing adaptations. Using the Scientific Method, students will get the opportunity to be scientists investigating Barn Owl pellets as they dissect them in small groups.

Hilltop Hop

Get out your dancing shoes! During this class students will be shown and taught popular line dances throughout time. With step by step instructions and great music, everyone will be joining in for this awesome dance party.

Roaring Relays

The title says it all! Focusing more on cheering for their peers than winning, your students will participate in a series of silly relay races led by our staff. With fun music in the background, this class is a great way for students to get some energy out before bed.

Campardy

In this game show style trivia challenge, your students will be tested on the knowledge they gained throughout their time here. They will work together in teams and support their peers in this fast-paced review game.

Hoedown
Your students will be transported back in time as they learn traditional square dances that were a favorite pastime during the Gold Rush. This class is offered as part of our History program.

Other Options

Teacher Time

We will provide an indoor or outdoor space for an activity led by the teachers from your school.

Dorm Time

Students will have extra time in their dorms to prepare for bed, supervised by your school's chaperones.
