A Message from Our Principal, Mrs. Sara McAvoy

The mission of Roger S. Oraze Elementary is to provide a safe, caring learning environment that will prepare all students to be CHAMPIONS in mind, body, and spirit through exemplary teaching practices. At the cornerstone of Roger S. Oraze Elementary School is Clovis Unified’s long-held tradition – the Sparthenian concept: Be the Best You Can Be, in Mind, Body, and Spirit. At Oraze Elementary, all students will be given an opportunity to maximize his/her greatest potential in the areas of mind, body, and spirit. The vibrant and energetic Bearcat campus is filled with opportunities to connect students to their passions. The environment is bursting with activity that makes learning and school fun. Above all, we are committed to academic excellence and student achievement. Students R.O.A.R. on campus demonstrating Respect, staying On-Task, focusing on Achievement, and making Responsible choices. We exist to reach, involve, and equip the entire Bearcat Community to be CHAMPIONS for LIFE!

I am thrilled to announce that Oraze Elementary students and staff earned the CLASSI award for the 2023-24 school year! Unique to the Clovis Unified School District and in pursuit of truly effective, well-rounded programs, CLASSI award evaluations include elements that affect the total operation of a school. To achieve this comprehensive approach to evaluation, CLASSI is composed of three distinct components including, first, academic achievement based on district standards and multiple measures. In addition, the school’s effectiveness regarding specific elements of school site management, parent involvement and co-curricular programs based on quality indicators is analyzed. Finally, school and district personnel examine the school’s policies, practices, programs, and operating procedures through a self-study. Oraze earned the CLASSI Award by reaching or exceeding set standards in these components. Congratulations to the remarkable Bearcat students and Staff on this achievement!

This year’s theme, “Bearcat University” celebrates the high expectations and collegiate culture on our campus. As an AVID Elementary School, we are preparing students for College and Career Readiness. Each grade level at “Bearcat University” is represented by their own distinct College and students will learn about the many disciplines they can study later in life. At Bearcat University- We

Thrive Because We Strive!

Smiles,
