  • Safety, energy efficiency and technology upgrades for ALL schools.
  • Modernization and repairs to aging schools.
  • Completion of our new high school to ease overcrowding.

Clovis Adult Education Admission Policy

Admission and registration are administered equitably and fairly to all applicants. Applicants who meet all standards and requirements for enrollment are deemed capable of benefiting from the training offered.

Prior to enrollment, all potential students must take the TABE reading and math assessments and meet the minimum requirements as listed below. Some programs have additional requirements or pre-requisites that are clearly stated in the program brochure, and individual program links.

ACADEMICS


High School Diploma (HS), Adult Basic Education (ABE), and GED®

Clovis Adult Education will admit any student who is 18 years or older and not attending high school.
  • You must take a TABE Placement Test
  • You must have a valid government issue I.D.
  • You must attend an Orientation

CAREER TECHNICAL EDUCATION (CTE) BUSINESS PROGRAMS

IMPORTANT REMINDER:  You must be at least 18 years old to attend any of the following programs.

BUSINESS PROGRAMS

Office Assistant (OA)
  • You must be 18 years or older.
  • You must pass a Level M TABE Placement Test:
    • Reading: 442
    • Math: 449
  • You must have a high school diploma or equivalent from an accredited institution.
  • You must have a valid government-issued I.D.

CTE Nurse Assistant (NA) Program Enrollment Procedure

HOW DO STUDENTS ENROLL IN THE CTE-NURSE ASSISTANT CERTIFICATE PROGRAM?

The Nurse assistant program is a 14-week (285 hour) training program which include both in-class skills instruction and on-the-job clinical training.  Any individual interested in enrolling in the CTE-Nurse Assistant program must first undergo assessment testing, followed by an application, orientation, and registration.  This process includes the following:
  • Review of pre-requisites; 
    • - 18 years or older
    • - valid government issued photo I.D.
    • - high school diploma or equivalency (HSE), from an accredited institution
  • Level "M" TABE testing in reading comprehension, applied math and math computation, with a minimum score of:
    • - 8.0 or 442 in reading and 
    • - 449 in math
  • Should a student not attain the minimum score, testing can be rescheduled and/or information on enrolling in refresher classes will be shared with the prospective student.
  • Submit an application for the NA program to the Nurse Education Office.
  • Once accepted to the program students are required to attend the NA orientation which includes:
    • - Scheduling, including class start dates and times
    • - Program costs and expected expenditures
    • - Review of the NA student Handbook
    • - Completion of registration paperwork
    • - Completion of NA orientation meeting

CTE Home Health Aide (HHA) Program Enrollment Procedure

HOW DO STUDENTS ENROLL IN THE CTE HHA CERTIFICATE PROGRAM?

The HHA program is a 40-hour training program for currently active CNA students.  The enrollment process includes the following:
  • Review of pre-requisite:
    • - 18 years or older
    • - Valid government issued photo I.D.
    • - Have an active Certified Nurse Assistant license
  • Submit an application for the HHA program to the Nurse Education office
  • Once accepted to the program students are require to attend the HHA orientation which includes:
    • - Scheduling, including class start dates and times
    • - Program costs and expected expenditures
    • - Submission of health requirements
    • - Completion of 283 D form
    • - Review and sign student agreement and consent form

CTE Vocational Nurse (VN) Program Enrollment Procedure

HOW DO STUDENTS ENROLL IN THE CTE VOCATIONAL NURSE PROGRAM?

The VN program is an 18-20 month (1530 hours) training program.  any individual interested in enrolling in the CTE VN program must first undergo assessment testing, followed by an application, orientation and registration.  This process includes the following:
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Pass the TABE placement test with the following scores:
    • - Reading:  536
    • - Math:        496
  • Submit a VN Application within the application window with the following documents:
    • - High School Diploma or High School Equivalency, from an accredited institution**
    • - Nurse Assistant Certification (must be active)**
    • - Proof of employment as a CNA for a minimum of 350 hours**
    • - Two letters of recommendation (from anyone except family members)
    • - Government issued photo I.D.**
    • - Birth Certificate**
    • - Social Security**
    • - One 2x2 passport photo
    • - Basic Life Support (BLS) American Heart CPR

**NOTE:  Originals for all the above are required and CAE will take a photocopy.

  • Completing the following Pre-requisite classes:
Medical Terminology45 hours
Medical Math (Inter Algebra, Math 103)45 hours
Nutrition (or FN 40)33 hours
Anatomy & Physiology60 hours
Vocational Nurse Prep36 hours


  • Complete an interview with the VN Director
  • Once accepted to the VN Program students are required to attend the VN Orientation which includes:
    • - Scheduling, including class start expected expenditures
    • - Program costs and expected expenditures
    • - Financial Aid information
    • - Review of the VN Student Handbook
    • - Completion of Registration paperwork
    • - Payment of Fees
