Principal Message

Kathy Weymiller, Principal at Custer

Spring is in the air, and with it, we see our students blossoming into more mature versions of themselves. Their growth—both academically and personally—is truly inspiring. Each day, they remind us why we are committed to fostering an environment that promotes learning, curiosity, and long-term success.

We deeply value our partnership with families and appreciate your efforts to maintain consistency for your child. Daily, on-time attendance is crucial—it ensures students have access to valuable learning opportunities while helping them develop essential life skills such as punctuality, discipline, and responsibility. Regular attendance also enhances classroom engagement, collaboration, and social growth. Arriving late can be stressful for students as they work to catch up, and it disrupts the learning environment for others. Thankfully, we’ve seen a significant improvement in tardiness, and we are so grateful for your continued support in making this happen!

Enrollment Information

Enrollment is open anytime online at Clover Park School District’s website. If you already have students in the district, you can register through your Family Access account. Need computer access? We have a laptop available at Custer for your convenience.

A Little About Me

It is an absolute privilege to serve as the principal of Custer Elementary. With 39 years in education and six wonderful years at Custer, I can truly say I love my job! Our students, families, and staff are simply the best, working together as a team to ensure every child grows and thrives.

Outside of school, I am a wife and a mother of three (two have launched, and one is in college). I love reading, the arts, sports, animals (both dogs and cats!), and soaking in the beauty of the Pacific Northwest.

Our Custer Culture

Some time ago, I received an email from The 5th Avenue Theatre outlining their Audience Code of Conduct, and it deeply resonated with me. It reflects exactly the kind of culture we strive to build at Custer. With that inspiration, I share this with you:

  • Everyone Belongs Here. We are one community, coming together to learn and grow. Say hello, welcome one another, and embrace the diversity that makes us strong.
  • Come As You Are. Whether you show up fancy or casual, you are welcome here. Your presence is what truly matters.
  • Show Kindness. To yourself, to others, and to our staff. Custer is a place of light, hope, and joy. Leave negativity at the door and bring your best self.
  • Words Have Power. Whether in person, on the phone, or on social media, let’s ensure our words uplift rather than hurt. Before speaking, ask yourself: Am I contributing to someone’s well-being, or am I taking away from it?
  • We Share Energy. Our teachers and staff pour their hearts into this school community. Your engagement and partnership make all the difference in helping our students succeed.
  • As we move through this school year together, we remain committed to making Custer a welcoming, inclusive, and caring environment for every student and family. Your voice is important, and I encourage you to reach out anytime.
