The Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act or Clery Act is a federal law that requires all colleges and universities that participate in federal financial aid programs to keep and disclose information about crime on, and near their respective campuses. The law is named in memory of Jeanne Clery.

The Clery Act, signed in 1990, was originally known as the Crime Awareness and Campus Security Act. On March 7, 2013, the Violence Against Women Reauthorization Act of 2013 (VAWA) was signed into law. VAWA includes amendments to the Clery Act. These changes require institutions to disclose statistics, policies, and programs related to dating violence, domestic violence, sexual assault, and stalking, among other changes.

Charlotte Technical College’s Annual Security Report includes statistics for the previous three years concerning reported crimes that occurred on campus. The report also includes institutional policies concerning campus safety, such as alcohol and drug use, crime prevention, crime reporting, sexual assault, and others.
