Principal's Welcome Message
To the students, parents and community members of Oliver Middle School,
Welcome! We are so very excited and fortunate to be starting this educational journey with each of you. It’s not often that a community gets to be a part of opening a new school. So it is so exciting that we get to be a part of building a program that we hope will not only provide a quality education for all of our students but will also be a source of pride for the neighborhood. At Oliver, we are not taking this privilege lightly, and we are energized and filled with optimism about all the possibilities that come with opening a new school. It is an exciting time to be at Oliver and I hope you feel the same sense of hope and enthusiasm that we are feeling.
Over my time as an educator, I have learned that a school serves its students the best when it is working in partnership with parents and families. We want the community to be as involved as they can be in our program. The world can be an extremely busy and confusing place for children and they need as many avenues for support as possible. I believe that with schools and families working together we can provide all that is needed so all of our students can find academic and social success.
Finally, as a school, we will do all we can to give our students the best education possible. We know that many of our students will come to Oliver, a little behind due to all the interruptions in learning over the past couple of years. In order to get students caught up and ready for high school, we are going to insist on consistent attendance and hard work. We are going to build an environment where academics are valued and students understand the need and importance of what they are learning. School can be academically challenging and, honestly, if we are doing things right, school should be challenging. That’s not to say it can’t be fun, because there will be times when we will have fun, but please know that your Oliver staff is dedicated to bettering the lives of our students through education.
I feel honored to be a part of this community and feel the privilege of getting to open this new school for our community. It is not a responsibility I take lightly and I will do all I can to help ensure that each and every one of you is proud to be a part of the Oliver community.
Here is to the adventure ahead and Come On You Owls!
