Concert Band is a performing ensemble composed mainly of freshman and sophomore musicians who are interested in learning a solid foundation of musical ability. In this class students explore various genres of music, including that of other countries. Additionally, they learn the beginning of "why music is the way it is" through Music Theory lessons. This ensemble typically performs a Christmas Concert in the Fall, competes at MPA and plays at the final concert in Spring.

Symphonic Band is our advanced performing ensemble that is offered Spring semester. Juniors and seniors make up this group and they perform many difficult warm-ups, marches, and other genres in preparation for our competitive season, MPA. After our adjudication at MPA, we work towards a final concert to give seniors, their parents and all of our musicians a captivating send-off into Summer.

This performance‐based course is designed to develop individual skills in vocal techniques, basic music theory and harmony, and basic music history. Students are expected to develop musical literacy to a level of competency according to ability.

The focus of this course is to develop the student’s ability to read printed music to develop the concepts of melody, rhythm, tempo, dynamics, tone, color, harmony, and form, and to develop an appreciation of music. Students will participate in the care and maintenance of the instruments and demonstrate techniques unique to playing handbells.

This course is an emphasis on the application of concepts in acting, directing, designing, and producing.

The Visual Arts program at Bandys High School teaches an understanding of the Elements of Art and the Principles of Design as a basis for all compositions. Students will explore a variety of artists, art processes and mediums. Drawing, painting, along with two & three-dimensional design can be explored through the multiple choices of courses offered. All beginning level classes focus on experiences with design principles, drawing techniques and painting skills leading to the development of abilities that are necessary for advanced art courses. Students are given opportunities to solve problems creatively, and are continually encouraged to expand their creative ideas as well as their technical potential.
