Students participating in the program will be taught the same Common Core Standards as students in traditional kindergarten classes. The Mandarin Immersion program is considered an 80/20 program. Student will receive 80% on their instruction in Mandarin Chinese and 20% in English. This allows students the opportunity to learn a second language while simultaneously learning the kindergarten curriculum. Students are immersed in the language and the culture throughout the school day. The higher order thinking processes involved in learning through two languages enhances students' proficiency at learning new skills and provides lifelong benefits.
