  • Our mission is to educate and inspire students to appreciate other cultures and languages enabling them to contribute respectfully and confidently to a rapidly changing world.

LOTE Graduation Requirements

  • In order to graduate, students must complete one (1) unit of a second language. The opportunity to earn this credit starts at the middle school level for most students and is earned by passing the course and the Regional Second Language Proficiency exam in 8th grade.

    To earn a Regents diploma with Advanced Distinction three (3) units of a second language are required and students must pass the level 3 Regional Second Language Exam. For students who plan to attend college, Levels 4 and 5 are highly recommended and credit through Monroe Community College may be available. Students in level 5 may earn 6 college credits if enrolled in the 3-1-3 SUNY Brockport program. 

     

Departmental Grading Policy

  • Grades are weighted according to the following percentages:

    Levels 1-5: 60% assessment; 40% practice
