Many Career Paths Start with Carpentry

Students learn the fundamentals of residential carpentry and participate in the construction of a new house on site. Experience is gained in wall, ceiling and roof framing, exterior finishing, trimming, windows and doors, insulation and floor systems.

Teachers
Kyle CanfieldPeter SharpeKyle Canfield joined the faculty at WEMOCO in 2015. Previously he taught carpentry at another BOCES, and prior to that he was employed as a union carpenter. Kyle holds an associate's degree in building trades, and he earned a New York State professional certification in carpentry education. He is an authorized OSHA Training Instructor.Pete Sharpe earned a professional teaching certification and joined the faculty at WEMOCO in 2009. His experience includes working in the construction industry for 21 years as a business owner, in sales, and in service. He is active in town government and is an assistant coach in the SUNY Brockport baseball program. -
