The New York State Education Department gives a Language Arts assessment to students in May of 3rd grade. This assessment is divided into three parts, given on three consecutive days. The assessment is timed; the students must answer all the questions during a set time limit.
The staff at FRES does not see the assessments before the scheduled testing dates. We cannot "prepare" for the test, but feel that the comprehensive literacy program we provide is what the students need to be ready for this assessment. We do provide opportunities for the students to complete assignments with formats similar to what they see on the ELA assessment.
