Image copyright problem with Image:Ancient Arms of Baynham.jpg

Speedy deletion of Heart Hope Help
A tag has been placed on Heart Hope Help requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a company or corporation, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for companies and corporations.
If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}}
to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the article does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that a copy be emailed to you. —BradV 16:15, 27 May 2008 (UTC)

Hi HOUZI/Archive 3,
Thanks for contributing to Wikipedia articles related to orienteering. If you are interested in orienteering, you might like to add WikiProject Orienteering to your watchlist (see Help:Watching pages).
Thanks,

- Hi thankyou for telling me ive just joined and will try to contribute what I can. I have noticed that there is no article on the JK and will look into creating one thanks again
- Great! The project is just getting started. I have been tagging article talk pages, and in a day or two a bot will add them to the table Wikipedia:WikiProject Orienteering/Assessment. Meanwhile, many articles that link to Orienteering remain to be tagged; most are pages about orienteers. Would you care to have a go at tagging them? --Una Smith (talk) 22:21, 14 June 2008 (UTC)

Orphaned non-free media (Image:Heart Hope Help.jpg)
Thanks for uploading Image:Heart Hope Help.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 05:43, 21 June 2008 (UTC)
Article titles (AT)
My view is that we create, for example, Federazione Italiana Sport Orientamento with a redirect at FISO. We simply do not need Federazione Italiana Sport Orientamento (FISO). And the template will look a lot prettier if you use piped links. — RHaworth (Talk | contribs) 18:07, 22 June 2008 (UTC)
Logos
Great logos, but please put them on Wikimedia Commons, not here. From Commons, they can be linked by any wikipedia (now >260 of those). --Una Smith (talk) 19:25, 22 June 2008 (UTC)
- The reason i did this was the fact that I could not find the appropriate license on the commons ARBAY (talk) 20:12, 22 June 2008 (UTC)
- Use Magnus' Commons upload helper. You need to have a Commons account first. — RHaworth (Talk | contribs) 23:32, 22 June 2008 (UTC)
- FWIW, if the logos are not suitable for Commons, then they also are not suitable for Wikipedia. --Una Smith (talk) 04:59, 23 June 2008 (UTC)
- I reject the Idea that they make it look like a directory the logos are on relevant pages and aid with recognition of the national sporting Federations . Also there is fair use policy for a reason. I also reject the fact that the logos create a free web host theme I belive as many people say an Image can vastly improve and article ARBAY (talk) 14:51, 23 June 2008 (UTC)
- The use of logos in the related articles is clearly fair use, if you want to dispute fair use on Wikpedia, Una Smith ask at the village pump or fair use talk page not here. ATBAY is completely following policy. --Anonymous101 (talk) 14:58, 23 June 2008 (UTC)
- I am not disputing anything here; I am trying to be helpful. Of course it is fair use, meaning legal. But is it good policy for Wikipedia? I think not. And I think it is particularly not good policy for orienteering articles on Wikipedia. Better would be to put licensed low-res versions of the logos on Commons, where they can be used by all Wikipedia (over 260 languages now). But before going to the bother of doing that, how about turning some of those organization stubs into articles? Else you may end up having them all deleted by someone who is more zealous than I am. --Una Smith (talk) 05:26, 24 June 2008 (UTC)
- If you upload a logo to commons it will be instantly deleted as a copyvio. Also, stubs don't get deleted because they are stubs. Quote " But is it good policy for Wikipedia?". Maybe it is not, bu the policy does exist and if you have a problem with the Wikipedia policy it can be discussed at the village pump not here. Anonymous101 (talk) 06:26, 24 June 2008 (UTC)

Sandbach
Thanks for the message. I've done a quick read through, and partly done some simple copy-editing of it. The main issue that strikes me is to do with the references, or lack of them, in many parts of the article. As a side issue, there are some inline external links that could be better done by converting them into full-blown references (they can be spotted because they have numbers in them surrounded by square brackets, but they are at the same level as the text rather than superscripted like references.) If you could add in some of the missing references for the various facts and claims the article makes, that would help a lot. If the aim is to make the article gain Good Article or Featured Article status, a lot more referencing will be needed (along with other matters). Perhaps some of the redlinks need attention too&ndas;if there is little hope of quickly writing articles about them, some people would prefer to see them made into just ordinary text. I hope that helps as a first comment. I'll take a longer look over the next few days. If you look at what I've altered, it may help with things (particularly the positioning of the references and the punctuation.) Good work, by the way. DDStretch (talk) 23:19, 26 June 2008 (UTC)

Proposed deletion of Primary Schools of Sandbach
A proposed deletion template has been added to the article Primary Schools of Sandbach, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}}
notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page.
Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised because even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. triwbe (talk) 18:04, 4 July 2008 (UTC)

From Kingvald, re project orienteering
I'm only a sporadic editor on Wikipedia (Norwegian, both nynorsk og bokmål, and English, sometimes Swedish and Danish). I am an active Trail-O competitor, and might be taking part in editing regarding Trail-O. I'm also interested in history, and an active re-enactor, so I try to contribute to relevant pages.
I'm not sure how much benefit I would bring to Project Orienteering, as I only edit sporadicly.
Hi, an editor recently reverted the link you added to the Cheshire article which directed the reader to 'Education in Congleton Borough'. This was done because it probably wasn't the right place for the link. The correct place would be the Congleton (borough) article. It would be great if you could create an education section for that article. I think the best way to do that would be to summarise the Education in Congleton Borough article you created. If you decide to do that, it might be worth adding other information such as average GCSE results compared to the rest of the country. A good example of how this could be done is Trafford#Education. Nev1 (talk) 17:14, 15 July 2008 (UTC)
- Thankyou for bringing this to my attention I will do as you have suggested when I have the time whch will probably be soon ARBAY (talk) 17:16, 15 July 2008 (UTC)
- Borough articles such as Congleton are usually of high importance to a wikiproject as they cover such large areas and populations. And it's just as usual for such articles to be neglected and severely lacking in content. At the moment, even just adding a link to the article you wrote would be an improvement. But just remember there is no deadline so do it whenever (or not at all if something more interesting comes along)! Happy editing. Nev1 (talk) 17:24, 15 July 2008 (UTC)
infobox template in articles about orieteers
Hi! Why do you insert infobox template in some orieteers-page (e.g. Jana Cieslarová, Johanna_Allston, Jamie Stevenson, Kiril Nikolov and may be other). This template looks very bad.
Please, use MedalTable template like in Šárka Svobodná, Dana Brožková, Minna Kauppi, Valentin Novikov and in most of orieteers-articles.

Capitalisation
I noticed the note you left on Jza84's page about Sandbach and have reassessed the article to C-class; it's better than a start-class article, but has a long way to go before it can be considered B-class. It requires more references and more detail; WP:UKCITIES is a good place to get ideas from. While I was reading through the article, I noticed some funny capitalisations going on, words that definitely shouldn't be capitalised were. I also noticed this in the article on the Old Hall Hotel, Sandbach. There's an example of what I mean here. Happy editing. Nev1 (talk) 00:22, 26 August 2008 (UTC)
- Thankyou very much I have a terrible habit of putting capitols everywhere. ARBAY TALKies 09:15, 26 August 2008 (UTC)
- Hi! Looks like I've been beaten to it! I can't really expand anymore upon Nev1's points really. I agree that this is a C-class for sure, and its improved a great, great deal since I last visted the page. I'm a tiny bit worried about the free advert for the Sandbach Transport Festival 2009 - I think a less forgiving reviewer might delete that on site per a whole host of guidelines (WP:SPAM and WP:NOT comes to mind). Other than that, I say keep up the great work - it's developing into a good read. :) --Jza84 | Talk 22:17, 26 August 2008 (UTC)
RE: HI
Hi :) The correct title would be 'Anglo-Albania relations' although there is no actual problem with the current title, in proper English it would just be Albania. :D
Notability of South East Cheshire Enterprise
A tag has been placed on South East Cheshire Enterprise requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article, which appears to be about a real person, organization (band, club, company, etc.), or web content, does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable. If this is the first page that you have created, then you should read the guide to writing your first article.
If you think that you can assert the notability of the subject, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}}
to the top of the article (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the article's talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm the subject's notability under Wikipedia guidelines.
For guidelines on specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. JohnCD (talk) 17:11, 30 August 2008 (UTC)
Oxford Wikimania 2010 and Wikimedia UK v2.0 Notice
Hi,
As a regularly contributing UK Wikipedian, we were wondering if you wanted to contribute to the Oxford bid to host the 2010 Wikimania conference. Please see here for details of how to get involved, we need all the help we can get if we are to put in a compelling bid.
We are also in the process of forming a new UK Wikimedia chapter to replace the soon to be folded old one. If you are interested in helping shape our plans, showing your support or becoming a future member or board member, please head over to the Wikimedia UK v2.0 page and let us know. We plan on holding an election in the next month to find the initial board, who will oversee the process of founding the company and accepting membership applications. They will then call an AGM to formally elect a new board who after obtaining charitable status will start the fund raising, promotion and active support for the UK Wikimedian community for which the chapter is being founded.
You may also wish to attend the next London meet-up at which both of these issues will be discussed. If you can't attend this meetup, you may want to watch Wikipedia:Meetup, for updates on future meets.
We look forward to hearing from you soon, and we send our apologies for this automated intrusion onto your talk page!

Thanks for your message. I've had a look and made some additions. It's a good start, particularly your referencing. But be careful to check your links. Wheelock leads to a disambig page; I have corrected that. Moreton Hall leads to a house in Warwickshire - is this what you intended? If not, I suggest you de-link it and add something about where "your" Moreton Hall is. My main concern is that article is about a church which is not particularly "notable", and a pedantic editor may wish to delete it because of this. All the Cheshire churches with articles are listed buildings, which should satisfy the demand for notability. If not listed, there has to be something in the article to explain their notability (the orientation to the west is not particularly notable; many churches are not orientated to the east and this does not make it particularly notable). If you want to expand the article, add its location (map reference and/or coordinates) and a photograph. (St Mary's Church, Sandbach could also do with a photograph, if you are in a position to take and add one.) Good luck with your editing; there's an awful lot to learn about writing for Wikipedia, so I've discovered, but it's fun and satisfying. Peter I. Vardy (talk) 11:56, 4 October 2008 (UTC)
- Thankyou. I think is might be a reference to Little Moreton Hall due to its proximity. I look into taking some photos and look at its notability. Thank you for reminding me about the pedantic deletionists, I have come across them all to often!!! 安東尼 TALKies 12:10, 4 October 2008 (UTC)

Hi, the dogmatist did it again. I hope you have the article in your watchlist, too, so that it can be easily reverted. Unfortunately, there are few sources online about this group, mostly in French. Miacek (talk) 10:25, 11 December 2008 (UTC)
Speedy deletion of List of qualifications offered by the OU
A tag has been placed on List of qualifications offered by the OU, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article seems to be blatant advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become an encyclopedia article. Please read the guidelines on spam as well as Wikipedia:FAQ/Business for more information.
If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}}
to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the article does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that a copy be emailed to you. Fiddle Faddle (talk) 17:34, 23 December 2008 (UTC)
While placing tags can be useful, the one you have added to this article points out a problem without explaining exactly how you believe the problem to exist. Can you explain on the article talk page how the article is confusing? I really don't see how it is. NcSchu(Talk) 00:29, 24 December 2008 (UTC)

No, I need no help, thanks. It's the wrong tag you are using... Maybe you mean "Template:Citations missing"? But I "cleaned up" both articles, Tomas Sivertsson and Tommy Souraniemi, hope it fits now? Doma-w (talk) 17:13, 27 December 2008 (UTC)
Speedy deletion of Justin walker (radio presenter)
Please do not move pages to nonsensical titles. It is considered vandalism. If you would like to learn more about moving pages, please see the guidelines on this subject. If you would like to experiment with page titles and moving, please use the test Wikipedia. Thank you.

Justin Walker (radio presenter) note to Arbay
Hi Arbay! Just thought I would drop by and ask for some assistance with regard to this article - I have just moved Justin walker radio to Justin Walker (Radio) because it was incorrectly capitalized. It appears the creator is making multiple pages about himself. Your thoughts on where this should go next are welcome, but please reply on my talk page or leave me a {{newmessages}} template to let me know you have replied :) Thanks! Thor Malmjursson (talk) 18:48, 31 December 2008 (UTC)
- I'VE Tagged it for unreferenced for now , the previous article was deleted under speedy for not being notable, I'm not sure do you think it deserves that tag again?. Due to the name of the creator it appears to be that it is a one purpose account. So possibly it is not NPOV . 安東尼 TALK 圣诞快乐 19:03, 31 December 2008 (UTC)
- Fair enough! I wasn't sure how to proceed with it, I think I may refer the account to the Usernames for Administrator Attention team, since as you say it looks like a Single purpose account. Let's see how they go with it. Thanks for contacting me :) Thor Malmjursson (talk) 19:09, 31 December 2008 (UTC)
"Due to the fact that..."
Due to the fact that there is already too much mangled English on Wikipedia, I think further examples are quite needless.
Most of us say "because".
Kelisi (talk) 11:23, 2 January 2009 (UTC)
- Oh, "ARBAY". Is that Chinese, as in 二百? Well anyway, as to my initial message, I was referring to your use of the phrase "Due to the fact that" in, I believe, the Helen Suzman article. You should avoid its usage altogether as a) it sounds unbelievably pompous, and b) it isn't even grammatical (because "due" is an adjective, but an adverbial clause was required just there). "Because" is the usual word for what you meant. Kelisi (talk) 03:46, 3 January 2009 (UTC)
- Merci!! I didn't remember writing it. Yes it wasn't the most eloquent way of writing it! I suppose it sounds pompous but I am a Brit and have a habit of using 1000 words when 10 are needed.
Image copyright problem with File:Ancient Arms of Baynham.jpg
Thanks for uploading File:Ancient Arms of Baynham.jpg. You've indicated that the image is being used under a claim of fair use, but you have not provided an adequate explanation for why it meets Wikipedia's requirements for such images. In particular, for each page the image is used on, the image must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Can you please check
- That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's description page for each article the image is used in.
- That every article it is used on is linked to from its description page.

Edits
Thank you for your edits to the United Kingdom in the Eurovision Song Contest 2009 article. But, can you please source your information properly. You can't just source information by putting 'ESCToday' as your source with no link, accessdate, author, etc; you need to add these. -Diggiloo (talk) 18:31, 4 January 2009 (UTC)
Hi - a stub template or category which you created has been nominated for deletion or renaming at Wikipedia:Stub types for deletion. The stub type, which was not proposed at Wikipedia:WikiProject Stub sorting/Proposals, does not meet the standard requirements for a stub type, either through being incorrectly named, ambiguously scoped, or through failure to meet standards relating to the current stub hierarchy or likely size, as explained at Wikipedia:Stub. Please feel free to make any comments at WP:SFD regarding this stub type, and in future, please consider proposing new stub types first! Grutness...wha? 00:37, 5 January 2009 (UTC)
- I'm a little confused I thought that policy states that "threshold is modified in the case of the main stub category used by a WikiProject" and surely this is the main stub used by the Wikiproject 安東尼 TALK 圣诞快乐 17:42, 5 January 2009 (UTC)
- It isn't the basic stub for a WikiProject unless there's a Wikipedia:Wikiproject Orienteering Organizations - and even if it was, there's no sign that the stub type was proposed at WP:WSS/P, and no guarantee that it would meet the reduced threshold. If, as I suspect, the WikiProject is Wikipedia:WikiProject Orienteering, then the threshold would be dropped to 30 if you proposed an {{orienteering-stub}} (which might be a good idea - I'm surprised there isn't a basic stub type for that topic). Grutness...wha? 23:33, 5 January 2009 (UTC)
- By the way, I've proposed a basic {[tl|Orienteering-stub}} (and also a {{Orienteering-bio-stub}}, given the large number of biographical articles on orienteers which are stubs) at WP:WSS/P - feel free to add any comments there, though I doubt there'll be much opposition to the idea). Grutness...wha? 23:53, 5 January 2009 (UTC)

Questionnaire
In an effort to assess the progress of Wikiproject Cheshire, it has been decided to send a questionnaire to members. To answer, please copy this questionnaire and paste your answers on the answer page. While participation is, of course, not compulsory, thoughtful answers will help the project to develop and improve. Thank you.
- 1. The project is always looking for new members, so we want to find out which ways of attracting and approaching potential members work best. Do you remember how and why you joined?
- Answer: I did some small edits on Sandbach and Sandbach school and received help from Ddstretch and saw their was a WP Cheshire and thought I could help and since the I've written two start class article and helped get Sandbach to C class
- 2. How would you describe your involvement in the project? What activities do you undertake and how often do you edit Cheshire-related article?
- Answer: I look mainly at Congleton borough articles. I also am involved with Local politics being and so try to keep things up to date
- 3. Do you feel like you receive adequate support/contact from project members?
- Answer: Yes thanks go to Ddstretch and Peter Vardy
- 4. The project talk page is intended to be the hub of the project, where members discuss articles and help each other improving them. Until very recently it has been almost inactive, but do you check the project talk page?
- Answer: well its on my watchlist, but I'll admit it gets a little confusing especially when abbreviations litter it.
- 4a. If the talk page was more active, would you get involved in discussions there?
- Answer:I would try to but sometimes feel that I don't know enough policy but I do hear the Ignore all rules often enough
- 4a. If the talk page was more active, would you get involved in discussions there?
- 5. When viewing Cheshire-related articles, are there any issues that have stood out as needing attention or frustrated you? (Traditional counties POV, poor coverage about a particular subject, vandalism going unnoticed etc)
- Answer: not really, certainly some of the High schools still do not have articles , such as Congleton High. Also religion in Cheshire I've tried and failed to add information to it.
- 6. Maintaining the Cheshire portal is one of the Cheshire WikiProject's main aims, providing a display of the best and most up to date articles that are part of the project. There is currently a drive to promote it to featured status, but input from a wide range of members is needed. Do you have the portal on your watchlist?
- Answer: No
- 7. Would you be interesting in subscribing to a newsletter covering North West England, with details of work done by WikiProjects representing Cheshire, Greater Manchester, and Merseyside?
- Answer:Yes
- 8. Finally, are there any improvements or initiatives you'd like to see WP:CHES undertake, or general comments you'd like to make?
- Answer: Maybe an article of the week or Fortnight to encourage work on it. Some editors might need to be a little less harsh when C/e as some could be upset by comments such as I wish there was a charge of 1p for every capital letter in this article , which was little disheartening as I had put a lot of effort into it.
Thanks

WikiProject Eurovision Invitation!

- Welcome to the project! I have taken a look at Malta in the Eurovision Song Contest 2009 and started a discussion on the talk page here. Grk1011/Stephen (talk) 22:14, 9 February 2009 (UTC)
- Yes, and it was this morning. Some feel that that list does not need references since they are on the country page and it is just an overview, but we decided that it is best to keep the refs until the official list of entries is published on eurovision.tv, at which time we can use one ref for the whole section. Rail Station
Arbay, just to let you know in you're ever going improvement to a certain quiet town in South Cheshire, I thought I'd let you know that I've already taken a photo of the station for you to use. Naturally, the picture quality isn't too good because I took it with my old Cameraphone, a Sony Ericsson K800i if you're curious. I do have a number of pictures of Sandbach station on my Flickr account but the one I uploaded to Wikipedia was the most relevant. ;-) Anyway, good luck with the rest of the improvements to said town's article, I'm very pleased the article is being maintained in capable hands. ;-) --Phill talk Edits Review this GA review! 20:56, 22 May 2009 (UTC)

RfC on reliable sources for Eurovision articles
A second RfC has been started on sourcing for Eurovision articles, you can view it at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Eurovision#RfC on reliable sources for Eurovision articles. This RfC is critical as it will help determine how current and future Eurovision articles are sourced, and as much participation as possible is needed for a consensus to develop. You are being notified as you are listed as an active user of Wikipedia:WikiProject Eurovision, and hence the results of this RfC could have a large impact on the articles you edit.
