Boyd ISD has earned a “Superior” rating from the Financial Integrity Rating System of Texas (FIRST), upholding our excellence in financial accountability. The 2022-2023 rating is based on 2021-2022 district data. There are 4 rankings offered with superior being the highest designation that a district can earn. The Texas Education Agency developed School FIRST ratings in response to legislation and ratings were issued for the first time in 2002-2003. The primary goals of the rating are to ensure that Texas public schools are held accountable for the quality of their financial management practices and that they improve those practices. Texas public schools are encouraged to better manage their financial resources to provide the maximum allocation possible for direct instructional purposes.
All Texas public school districts are required to report the results of the state's financial accountability system each year. This system (FIRST) is designed to provide transparency, meaningful oversight and encourage improvement for school district's financial performance and is done according to TEC, Chapter 39, Subchapter D.
