Ms. Dixon is a lifelong resident of Attalla and was educated within the Attalla School system. She graduated from Etowah High School in 1989.  She was awarded a softball scholarship to Gadsden State Community College. Her education includes a degree from GSCC and completion of Northeast Alabama Law Enforcement Academy. She has served in law enforcement as an officer for the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources, Wildlife and Freshwater Fisheries Division since 2006. She also works for Dr. Terry Andrade as a scrub tech. 

Ms. Dixon. has one son, Trent Dixon, who is married to Rachel Hale Dixon. She has one grandchild.

Her hobbies include horseback riding, camping, hiking, hunting and kayaking.
