Hello! Welcome to my page. I just finished up my 12th year of teaching, and I look forward to another great year here at Etowah Middle School. I am the mother of two boys named Max (9) and Mason (6). Max suffers from mild autism and ADHD, so I understand the frustrations disorders like these can have on a family and the learning process. Mason is my little firecracker who loves baseball. He plays travel ball and rec ball, so we spend a lot of our time at the baseball field. I also understand when a family has to spend a lot of their time on the sports field, but academics should always take priority and time management is key as well as not procrastinating when it comes to school work and deadlines. I love both my boys dearly and welcome each of their differences. I love dogs! My family has three minature schnauzers named Dixie, Bailey, and Charlee. They are not just pets but members of our family. When at home, I am more of a "jeans and T-shirt" type of girl. I love to just relax by watching movies, swimming, or hanging out by the pool/lake. We enjoy as much time as we can get on Smith or Logan Martin lake or at the  beach. I have been married for twelve years to my husband, Chad Tidwell who is a former Florida Gator and University of North Alabama football player. We ended up meeting when he transferred to UNA. I loved my time at UNA where I was involved in the sorority Alpha Gamma Delta where we did a lot of philanthropic work for the diabetes foundation and United Way. At UNA, I gained a BS degreee in Psychology as well as a masters in secondary educations with a concentration in English language arts. I love my UNA lions, but I am a huge Alabama fan, too. We are a house divided during football season, but it doesn't stop us from having a lot of fun! Roll Tide Roll!

I would not be able to do what I do without my faith and my love of Jesus Christ. I love all my students (even the challenging ones! LOL!), and my goal is to make sure that each child is college ready if he or she chooses but also loved. I understand that we may have your children as much or longer than you do, so this needs to be a partnership between parents and teachers because it takes a village to raise them! This year I am shaking some things up, and we will be doing some new things I have never done before. I plan to focus on Closing the Achievement Gap through Multicultural Literature and Research-Based Strategies. We will be doing some book studies. Some of this could be rigorous, but I will have your child prepared; however,  just like the first time that we ever try something new, it is difficult. Once they do it the first time it gets easier and easier just like riding a bike. I am here to help if any problem arises. I cannot do what I need to do to help your child if you are not a part of the process too. Please hold your child accountable and stay on top of your child's grades through inow. I ask that you are signed up for the parents' Remind group. This is the fastest way to get info to you because I do not have but 45 min each day to make phone calls. This is also the only time I have to plan lessons and grade papers too. Parents, I want and need your help! This year will be a struggle for us all as well battle the unknowns that face us daily with the change of this virus. Please be patient with us. I look forward to learning about you and your family and working together to make sure your child is prepared for the high school level.
