Wellness Policy

  •

The School Board of Education passed the Wellness Policy in March 2007.  This was in response to Federal and State legislation regarding childhood obesity.  We encourage you, as parents, to help us provide food to your children that is healthy and will teach them to make good health choices.  The following represents ways to help us make this policy a success:

üIf you child brings a sack lunch we ask that you provide them with a healthy food items.  We ask that you limit the amount of fast food you might bring to your child.

üClassroom parties or birthdays being held should not involve cake, cup cakes, candy, pepperoni pizza, soda, punch, etc.  Items that may be brought are goodie bags, pretzels, low-fat popcorn, animal crackers, fresh fruit assortments, sparkling juices that have 100% fruit juice, pizza with low-fat toppings (vegetables, lean ham, Canadian bacon), pizza dippers with marinara sauce, ham, cheese or  turkey sandwiches or wraps, low-fat pudding, squeezable yogurt, quesadillas, and low-fat tortilla chips with salsa.

These are some healthy suggestions that we as a school and as a community would like to see practiced.  Remember this is for the better health of our all children.  We want to thank you in advance for helping to make our students and your children healthier citizens.
