Elementary Students Observe Mental Health Awareness Week

All three Windsor Elementary Schools participated in Mental Health Awareness Week during the week of May 19th. Throughout the week, students engaged in activities to promote understanding, self-care, and the importance of mental well-being.
During morning meetings, students explored what mental health means, how to take care of it, and who they can turn to for support. Students in grades one through five created their own self-care and wellness plans, empowering them to take proactive steps toward maintaining their mental health.

“Our youngest learners in kindergarten enjoyed reading Gizmo’s Pawesome Guide to Mental Health and brought home a special gift—a stuffed Gizmo and their very own copy of the book—to continue the conversation with their families,” said Palmer Elementary school counselor Sandra Tredo.

A highlight of the week was a visit from singer/songwriter Jared Campbell, who performed at all three schools. Through his music and storytelling, he inspired students with messages about kindness, responsibility, leadership, and the value of mental health.

“It was awesome,” said Palmer 2nd grader Harper Liddic.

“Mental Health Awareness Week was a powerful reminder that taking care of our minds is just as important as taking care of our bodies. We’re so proud of our students for embracing these important lessons with open hearts and minds,” said Tredo.
