The School District of Washington’s Board of Education will meet Wednesday, Aug. 29, at the district office at 7 p.m.
Among the items on the agenda are:
*Building Level Report – Washington High School: Principal Dr. Kelle McCallum will share information with the Board of Education on room changes and building initiatives for the year at WHS.
*WHS Band Uniforms: A Request for Proposals (RFP) was opened on August 20, 2018 for band uniforms for Washington High School. Following review of the proposals, it is recommended to accept the low bid from Stanbury Uniforms in the amount of $135,202.50. The funding for this purchase will be shared between the District and the Band Boosters.
*Capital Projects Update: Assistant Superintendent Dr. Brendan Mahon will provide Facilities Improvements Update and will share additional information.
*Achievement Implementation Team Update: Dr. Judy Straatmann has been facilitating, along with Mrs. Stefanie Virgen, the Achievement Implementation Team process. The team is comprised of faculty and staff throughout the District. They have met multiple times to develop goal areas for the Strategic Plan.
*Strategic Planning Update and Other Goals: The Strategic Planning Framework and Timeline will be provided, along with a Goal Brainstorming List to be used by the implementation teams. Superintendent Dr. VanLeer will provide additional information and an update.
* Governor's Economic Conference: VanLeer has been asked by Blaine Henningsen, Department of Elementary and Secondary Education, to serve on a panel of 6-7 superintendents at the upcoming Governor's Economic Conference. The conference will be held in Kansas City beginning on Wednesday, September 5, 2018. The panel of superintendents from across the state will discuss how K-12 education connects with local businesses and industry in their regions.
*Enrollment: District administration monitors class-size monthly. Jennifer Pecka, Labadie Elementary Principal, collects data on a monthly basis that reflects our enrollment numbers in Lumen compared to the actual number of students present on the day the report is generated.
*Summer School: Straatmann will provide the Summer School 2018 report.
