Amanda Schweissguth Blue Jay Pride AwardAmanda Schweissguth, Educational Technology Specialist for the School District of Washington, is the latest recipient of the Blue Jay Pride Award.

The Blue Jay Pride Award was introduced to recognize and showcase quality SDOW staff and the focus on the District’s core beliefs. Through peer nomination, individuals are able to acknowledge exceptional staff who positively impact the schools, district and community.

The individual who is recognized each month will be presented with a traveling plaque and gift card.

Schweissguth had three nominations for the award. See below for what was stated in the nomination form.

“Amanda provides a caring environment, she also provides real work learning in her professional development. She definitely shows rock character, and she does a great job with collaboration. Amanda is very knowledgeable. She is also super helpful. Whenever I have an issue I can email her and within an hour, she has an answer or lets me know she is working on it. She has even gone so far as to give me a call on off hours to work an issue out because she knew it was time sensitive. She is one of the leaders in charge of our STEM group. She is always well prepared, she knows the curriculum, and is always willing to go the extra mile. Her PD's are always very useful, and can be used in the classroom immediately. She is an amazing, kind person.”

“The STEM team wants to recognize Amanda Schweissguth. She is a true asset to our district. Not only is she a strong supporter of the STEM teachers, but she is a huge team player for many, if not all, SDOW employees. She is always prepared, professional, helpful, kind, organized, and knowledgeable. Amanda is always reliable to the team and quick to respond when help is needed or questions are asked. She is hard working and anyone can clearly see how she is dedicated to doing a great job and putting forth her best effort. We appreciate her so much.”

“Amanda goes above and beyond to collaborate, share, learn and grow. She seamlessly supports our elementary STEM team. When we have any concerns or questions, she is a text or email away. She responds immediately and often makes trips to our buildings just to make sure our questions are answered. Amanda shows a superior level of integrity in any type of collaboration or conversation and truly cares about making a difference in the lives of kids. If our team is looking for resources or ways to increase our knowledge base of something, she works until she finds something that is applicable and relevant. I don’t know what our team would do without her and I feel blessed to be on her team.”

Schweissguth was presented the traveling plaque by Superintendent Dr. Jennifer Kephart. Tresa George of First State Community Bank presented Schweissguth with a gift bag, which included a gift card to Fastrip.
