Board of Education to Meet Tuesday, March 26

SDOW LogoThe School District of Washington’s Board of Education will meet Tuesday, March 26, at the district office at 7 p.m.

Among the items on the agenda are:

*Student Representative Report: Tristan Zeh, Student Representative to the Board of Education, will share a report on the upcoming Jordan Scheer Children’s Relay for Life event at Washington High School. Members of the Relay for Life Committee will also be in attendance to share information.

*Upcoming MSBA Meetings: The MSBA Region 12 Spring Regional Meeting will be held on April 8 at Crawford Co. R-I Elementary/Middle School Cafeteria, Bourbon, MO. Looking ahead, the MSBA Leadership Summit will be held June 8-9 in St. Charles.

*Student Representative Panel: MSBA will be including a session on Student Voice in Governance at the Leadership Summit on Saturday, June 8 from 2:15 - 3:15 p.m. in St. Charles. They have extended an invitation to our District to have our student representative serve on the panel. During the session, each student would have an opportunity to briefly describe their selection process, their role, and what they have learned about governance from their experience. The session will be facilitated by Brent Ghan from MSBA.

*Building Level Report – South Point Elementary: Aimee Harty, Principal at South Point Elementary, will share building goals and student initiatives at the board meeting.

*Program Evaluation – Special Education: Elizabeth Mades, Director of Special Education, and Dr. Rachael Franssen provide information.

*Pathways for Teachers Update: The District was awarded the Pathways for Teachers Grant again this year, so several staff members have had the opportunity to participate in industry tours and model schools tours. Superintendent Dr. Lori VanLeer will share information.

*Summer School: Information to promote Summer School is currently underway, and Assistant Superintendent Dr. Judy Straatmann will share information with the Board of Education at the meeting.

*Attendance Report: Assistant Superintendent Dr. Rachael Franssen provided the attached attendance employee report, and will answer any questions at the board meeting.
