Washington High School Baseball Player Aden Pecka, Soccer Player Avery Lanemann Named Washington Missourian Athletes of the Week
Washington High School baseball player Aden Pecka and girls soccer player Avery Lanemann are the Washington Missourian Athletes of the Week, sponsored by First State Community Bank.
Pecka, a junior center fielder, bats in the leadoff spot for the Blue Jays and has a .365 batting average, .443 on-base percentage, 16 stolen bases, 21 runs scored and 13 RBIs. He’s also a solid defensive player in center field.
“Aden is our leadoff hitter and table setter. He has made several great diving catches and contributes defensively in every game played,” said Washington Baseball Coach Dane Gough.
Lanemann, a sophomore midfielder, is a major offensive threat for the Lady Jays. She has 12 goals and five assists on the season against tough competition. She scored the lone goal of the game in a big 1-0 Washington win over Union on Friday, May 6.
“Avery has been one of the best players in our area all season. Last week, Avery had three goals and three assists to lead our team to two wins,” said Washington Girls Soccer Coach Adam Fischer.
