High school basketball is under way and the Washington High School varsity boys already have played multiple games.
The Blue Jays opened their season at the 68th Annual St. Francis Borgia Turkey Tournament, going 1-2 in the event. They defeated Owensville in the opening round 79-37, lost to eventual champion University City in the semifinals 89-60, and dropped the third-place contest to Borgia, 37-32.
Washington returned to action at Union on Tuesday, December 1, defeating the Wildcats, 63-29.
Members of the varsity Blue Jays are Brigham Broadbent, Jason Sides, Alex Zanin, Will Gleeson, Carter Kleekamp, Ryan Hoerstkamp, Jack Lackman, Zac Coulter, Jarrett Hamlett, Todd Bieg, Mark Hensley, Todd Bobo and Chase Merryman.
Coulter and Bieg represented Washington on the Borgia All-Tournament team.
The Blue Jays are coached by Grant Young, Adam Meyer, Bill Juengel and Ben Hornback.
