The girls golf season is under way at Washington High School.
Washington opened its season in rainy conditions at Wolf Hollow Golf Club on Tuesday, Sept. 1, by defeating Ft. Zumwalt North, 215-227.
Washington’s Mia Lanemann was the meet’s medalist, carding a nine-hole round of 48.
Other varsity scores for the Lady Jays were Kyla Engemann with 54, Joie Heien with 56, Grace Bryson with 57, Isabella Fitzgerald with 58 and Emily Molitor with 63.
The Lady Jays returned to action at Wolf Hollow on Wednesday, Sept. 2, hosting a meet with Troy and Francis Howell North.
Troy won the meet with a team score of 190. Howell North placed second with 204 and Washington was third with 206.
Lanemann again captured medalist honors with a nine-hole score of 42.
Other scores for the Lady Jays were Fitzgerald with 53, Bryson with 54, Engemann with 57, Heien with 59 and Grace Landwehr with 61.
“Mia played an exceptional round. She would likely tell you she left a few shots on the course, but she made up for it in other aspects of the game,” said Washington Coach Adam Fischer. “Currently the main difference between Mia and the rest of our team is that she is keeping herself out of big trouble and when she’s in trouble she lets it go and moves on to the next shot.”
Other golfers on the Washington roster this fall are Cecelia Heimos, Caroline Heimos, Rebekah Davis, Kaylee Krafft, Avery Lanemann, Lillian Berry and Molly Buschmann.
