Washington High School cross country competed in the Class 4 District 2 Meet Saturday, Oct. 20, at Francis Park in St. Louis.
The top four teams at the top 30 finishers in the boys and girls races qualified for sectional action, which takes place at Big Driver in Washington on Saturday, Oct. 27.
A total of four Washington runners, three girls and one boy, advanced to the sectional meet.
Washington’s girls sectional qualifiers were sophomore Mia Reed (fourth place in a time of 19:11), senior Claire Ayers (eighth place in 19:23) and sophomore Jessica Donnelly (21st place in 19:56).
Washington’s boy sectional qualifier was junior Noah Little, who finished in 14th place in a time of 16:11.
Also running for the Lady Jays were McKenna Jacquin (51st in 21:22), Anna Weisbrod (56th in 21:50), Lillian Nix (60th in 22:12) and Lindsay Sprung (61st in 22:14).
Also running for the Blue Jays were Masson Kauffeld (60th in 17:48), Ben Griffen (69th in 18:12), Nicholas Corley (75th in 18:19), Alex Davis (76th in 18:24), Colby Jacquin (90th in 20:30) and Tristan Zeh (91st in 20:43).
The Lady Jays placed sixth in the girls team standings with a score of 140.
The top four teams and sectional qualifiers were Parkway West (69), Eureka (72), Marquette (76) and Nerinx Hall (107).
The Blue Jays placed 10th in the boys team standings with a score of 294.
The top four teams and sectional qualifiers were Kirkwood (54), St. Louis University High (71), Lafayette (72) and Marquette (101).
