Washington High School will send five athletes to compete in seven events at the MSHSAA Class 5 Track and Field Championships on Thursday, May 27, at Jefferson City High School.
The top four finishers in each event from the Class 5 Sectional 2 Meet, hosted by Washington High School on Saturday, May 22, qualified for the state meet.
Mia Reed, Morgan Gratza and Ingrid Figas will represent the girls team while Conner Maher and Clyde Hendrix will represent the boys team.
Reed qualified for state in both the girls 800-meter run and the 1,600-meter run. She won the 1,600-meter run during the sectional meet in a time of 5:00.42 and placed second in the 800-meter run in 2:15.57.
Gratza qualified for state in both the girls high jump and the javelin. She finished third in the high jump at the sectional meet by clearing 5-1.75 and fourth in the javelin with a throw of 111-9.75.
Figas qualified for state in the girls 100-meter hurdles by placing third in a time of 15.57.
Maher qualified for state in the boys 400-meter dash by placing fourth in the sectional meet in a time of 50.34.
Hendrix qualified for state in the boys javelin by finishing third in the sectional meet with a toss of 162-9.25.

State Meet Schedule
The Class 5 state track and field meet takes place Thursday, May 27, at Jefferson City High School.
Gratza competes in the girls high jump at 11 a.m. and the javelin at 1 p.m.
Figas runs in the girls 100-meter hurdles at 1 p.m.
Reed competes in the girls 1,600-meter run at 2:30 p.m. and the 800-meter run at 4:40 p.m.
Hendrix is in the boys javelin at 3 p.m.
Maher competes in the boys 400-meter dash at 3:50 p.m.
