Augusta Elementary S.T.A.R.T. Graduation
Augusta Elementary held its S.T.A.R.T. graduation ceremony on Thursday, January 19.
The S.T.A.R.T. program (Substance Tobacco Alcohol Resistance Training) at Augusta is put on by the St. Charles County Police Department.
Students in the fifth- and sixth-grade classes at Augusta completed the drug awareness program and were recognized for their accomplishments.
S.T.A.R.T. is a comprehensive educational program that addresses drugs, violence, bullying, internet safety and other high risk circumstances.
Working with the students in the S.T.A.R.T. program was School Resource Officer Camilla Cooke from the St. Charles County Police Department.
Sixth-grade essay winners were Sunny Null and Rowan Bayless. Fifth-grade essay winners were Kendall von Wolfseck and Kyla Niehaus. Essay winners read their essay to the crowd of parents, some staff members and some students.
Each student received a S.T.A.R.T. certificate for completing the program.
