Washington High School Orchestra Students Participate in State Solo and Ensemble Festival
Eight Washington High School orchestra students participated in the State Solo and Ensemble Festival, which was held virtually this year. Students received Gold, Silver, or Bronze ratings.
“We didn’t realize until January that we would be able to participate in a virtual festival. These students had eight weeks to prepare for contest,” said WHS orchestra instructor Susie Thierbach. “In addition to the rating, each student received a sheet with comments and suggestions from the adjudicator.”

Gold
Lydia Bush - sophomore, piano - played Toccata in A by P.D. Paradies
Vincent Hoang - freshman, violin - played Sarabande in G by Carl Bohm
Silver
Samantha Doepker - junior, violin - played Gigue from Sonata in d minor by F.M. Veracini
Caroline Miller - senior, violin - playedAllegro from Sonata #3 by G.F. Handel
Bronze
Rachel Derner - sophomore, violin – played The Boy Paganini by Edward Mollenhaur
Brooklyn Hunt - junior, viola - played Jesu Joy of Man’s Desiring by J.S. Bach
Ella Scott - junior, violin - playedAllegro from Sonata #4 by G.F. Handel
Addison Walch - sophomore, viola - played Marche Militaire by Franz Schubert.
