The 50th annual Washington Marching Band Festival took place Saturday, Oct. 6.
Hosted by Washington High School, the festival featured a parade and field competition with approximately 2,400 students from 30 schools participating.
The parade went through Downtown Washington.
The field competition was held at Rauch Field at Washington High School.
More than 300 volunteers were involved in helping with the festival, including parents, staff and others.
Washington High School was the host band and did not compete.
The winner of each class plus the next five highest scoring bands performed in the finals.
A Sweepstakes Award was presented to the highest scoring band that participated in both the parade competition and the field competition.
The field competition concluded with an exhibition performance by the Washington High School Marching Blue Jays.
Event founder and former WHS Band Director Gene Hunt was honored during the field competition. The event is now officially renamed the Gene Hunt Washington Band Festival.
