The School District of Washington’s Board of Education has received the Missouri School Boards’ Association 2023 Governance Team Award.
This recognition is based on the outstanding commitment to ongoing professional development, regional and statewide leadership, and active participation in legislative advocacy for public schools demonstrated by the school board and superintendent.
School boards and superintendents that receive this award demonstrate the value of ongoing learning for continuous improvement.
SDOW board members are Dan Leslie, Kevin Blackburn, John Freitag, Kelly Brinkmann, Dr. Frank Wood, Bob Oreskovic and Rob Horvath.
This year’s recipients of the award met the following criteria:
* The district is fully accredited.
* All seven school board members obtained Essential CBM certification from MSBA.
* All seven board members have fulfilled the Refresher Training requirement for the current year through MSBA.
* At least two board members achieved MSBA’s Advanced Board Member certification.
* At least one board member achieved MSBA’s Master Board Member certification.
* A quorum of the board and superintendent attended the 2022 MSBA Annual Conference and a regional meeting during the past year.
* A representative attended the 2023 MSBA Advocacy Day.
* A board representative participated in the MSBA’s Delegate Assembly.
