The WINGS Educational Foundation will holds its
Hall of Honor Dinner on Saturday, Sept. 28, on the lower level of the Washington Knights of Columbus Hall, 1121 Columbus Lane, Washington, MO 63090.
The WINGS Hall of Honor was formed to recognize alumni, community contributors and educators who have shown exceptional personal, community or professional achievement.
The 2019 honorees are John Carter, who will receive the Educator Award; Mary Phyllis Edler, who will receive the Alumni Award; and Richard Deppe, who will receive the Community Contributor Award.
John Carter was a teacher and coach at Washington High School from 1964-1998.
Mary Phyllis Edler graduated from WHS in 1967. She was a nurse and managed the Ambulatory Surgery Center at Mercy Hospital in Washington.
Richard Deppe, co-owner of Deppe Farms, graduated from WHS in 1973.
The WINGS and School District of Washington Teacher of the Year also will be announced. The five finalists are:
*Kaycie Schulte, Third Grade, South Point Elementary
*Lindsay Kober, Sixth Grade, Washington West Elementary
*Julie Trentmann, Special Education, Washington West Elementary
*Erin DeClue, Pre-K Autism, Early Learning Center
*Adam Meyer, Physical Education, South Point Elementary.
Cocktails and appetizers will be served at 5 p.m. followed by dinner at 6 p.m. The program follows dinner. The cost is $50 per person.
