The new playground equipment gives students the opportunity to experience it just in time for the warmer weather to arrive and before the current school year concludes.

“Over the past three years, we have been working to add playground pieces in phases and our big goal of the new lower playground structure was part of phase 3 of this plan,” said Clearview Elementary Principal Dr. Matt Busekrus. “We were fortunate enough to receive an anonymous donation earlier this fall, which helped us to have enough to be able to purchase and install the new equipment.”

The new playground equipment has been a work in progress for a few years with Clearview’s PTSO (Parent Teacher Student Organization) fundraising efforts. Between dinner auctions, trivia nights, pizza/cookie dough sales, a used book sale, a corn hole tournament, and dine out to donates, they have been working toward raising enough funds to achieve this goal.

A staff, student, and parent committee helped in planning for the new equipment and in determining the design. In addition to the new lower playground structure that was just installed, two standalone playground equipment pieces were added last spring as part of the phase 2 plan. It was adding the dome climber and the tapered tower to the lower playground. Phase 1 consisted of adding the gaga ball pit that was installed in the spring of 2022.

“We are very appreciative to our Clearview PTSO that helped make all of this possible with their fundraising efforts,” Busekrus said. “Our Clearview parents and staff have worked hard to support these efforts. Our students love the new playground equipment and having it completed before the end of this year was a great surprise for all of us.”
