The spring girls soccer season is under way at Washington High School with varsity and junior varsity squads taking the field.
The varsity Lady Jays opened the season by claiming the championship of the Warrenton Tournament, notching wins over Elsberry 10-0, Warrenton 5-0 and Sullivan, 10-0.
Washington then suffered home GAC Central losses to Liberty 3-2 and Ft. Zumwalt South, 1-0.
Five games into the season, Jessie Donnelly leads the team in scoring with six goals and one assist. Rebekah Lewis has added four goals and one assist.
Other contributors have been Taylor Bauer (three goals), Abbey Baldwin (two goals), Sarah Becszlko (two goals and one assist), Grace Landwehr (two goals), Mia Lanemann (two goals and three assists), Jena Monehan (two goals), Sam Winistoerfer (one goal and six assists), Joie Heien (one goal and one assist), Kalysta Stieffermann (one goal), Molly Tinkey (one goal), Cierstyn Jacquin (three assists), Caitlyn Vodnansky (two assists), Gwen Lottmann (one assist), Jenna Donnelly (one assist), Emma Vodnansky, Sophia Kramer and Haley Oetterer.
Ariel Pettis has been in goal for all five games.
Washington is coached by Adam Fischer and assisted by Suzanne Pircher and Erin Wesselschmidt.
