Washington High School softball player Emma Vodnansky is the Washington Missourian Athlete of the Week, sponsored by First State Community Bank.
Vodnansky, a senior center fielder, ended her WHS softball career with a big senior season, finishing with a batting average of .365 (31 hits in 85 at-bats) with five home runs, 25 RBIs, 28 runs, eight walks, eight stolen bases, an on-base percentage of .419 and a slugging percentage of .647. She earned first-team All-GAC Central and All-District honors in helping the Lady Jays to a 19-6 record and a GAC Central title.
“Emma showed her leadership this year. She led both vocally and through her work ethic,” said Washington Head Softball Coach Philip King. “Emma helped our young varsity players learn how to be a team, and we would not have been as successful this year without her leadership. She had a tremendous four-year career.”
For her WHS career, Vodnansky finished in the top 10 in school history in numerous categories, including runs (second), home runs (tied for second), walks (third), batting average (sixth), stolen bases (eighth), doubles (tied for eighth), hits (tenth), and RBIs (tenth).
