Washington High School baseball player Grant Trentmann (KLPW Radio) and track and field athlete Clyde Hendrix (Washington Missourian) have been named athletes of the week.
Trentmann, a senior, has been nearly unhittable on the mound this year. In six starts, he owns a 4-1 record with a 0.42 earned-run average. In 33 innings of work, he’s allowed four runs, two earned, on nine hits with 16 walks and 51 strikeouts.
When he’s not pitching, Trentmann plays second base and has done a solid job defensively this season.

Hendrix, a senior, was the boys winner of the Washington pentathlon, setting a new school record by 205 points. At the WHS eight-team meet, he surpassed the school javelin record with all four of his throws with a top throw of 56.93 meters. His top throw is ranked third in Missouri, and he currently has the 21st best throw in the nation.
