The Rotary Club of Washington made a donation of $2,500 to the Jordan Scheer Children’s Relay for Life.
Members of the Rotary Club recently visited Washington High School to present the check to the Leadership Class, which annually puts on the Jordan Scheer Children’s Relay for Life.
The relay is named in honor of Jordan Scheer, a WHS graduate who lost his battle to cancer shortly after his graduation in 2005.
Students in grades three through six from the School District of Washington and neighboring parochial schools participate in the event each spring.
The $2,500 donation adds to the total this year of $25,027.
Approximately $290,000 has been raised in the 14 years of the event.
Proceeds from the event benefit the American Cancer Society and cancer awareness.
